Glass industry
The applications of selenium in the glass industry are numerous and diverse.
- Decolorization of glass by removing the green tint caused by the iron content in sand
- Coloring of glass: from colorless to orange to red, e.g., for church windows or heat-absorbing "privacy" glass (dark-tinted glass without film)
- Component in the production of large-area flat glass, including "privacy" glass
- Use in container glass production for decolorizing glass bottles
We supply our selenium products to glass manufacturers worldwide.
Global glass production accounts for approximately 50% of the consumption of selenium compounds. Selenium metal powder, selenium metal pellets, zinc selenite, and sodium selenite are required for a wide range of manufacturing processes. Selenium also plays a crucial role in glass recycling, as it is used to decolorize the glass batch. We offer selenium compounds with purities ranging from at least 99.5% up to 99.95%, suitable for technical applications such as the production of optically high-reflective surfaces for windows.
